Glimmer — e-commerce site for a Ukrainian publisher of aesthetic books

Glimmer is a new Ukrainian publisher of aesthetic fiction: literary novels, fantasy, thrillers, mysteries. We built a full e-commerce site with a marketing structure that sells: catalog, product cards, pre-orders, deal blocks, and a short path to checkout. After launch the books sold fast, and the client recouped the cost of the site in about a week.

What was

Glimmer is a publisher with a new book line and a social-media audience that needed a real place to buy. Without a full e-commerce site, audience interest wasn't converting into orders — the catalog, structure, and pre-order mechanics were all missing.

  • The brand needed a site that conveys the publisher's aesthetic and sells from day one
  • Beyond showing the books, we needed a structure that leads to the sale
  • The user should jump from a banner or curated list straight to a specific book and checkout
  • The site had to support pre-orders, deals, and frequent catalog updates
  • We needed dedicated blocks to push priority titles: bestsellers, new releases, deals
  • The core task — build an e-commerce tool that starts moving books the moment it launches

What we did

We built an e-commerce site on Next.js + Sanity CMS with a conversion-driven marketing structure. Every block on the homepage solves a commercial job — not just showing books, but pushing specific titles and walking the user toward checkout.

  • Built an e-commerce site for a Ukrainian publisher from scratch
  • Built the homepage as a sales structure: banners with CTAs, bestsellers, deals, new releases
  • Built homepage banner rotation to promote new and priority books
  • Built the catalog with categories: literary, fantasy, thrillers, mysteries
  • Built product cards with price, discount, and status: "Buy" or "Pre-order"
  • Added pre-order mechanics — the site supports new-book launches before stock arrives
  • Built deal badges and discount blocks for promoting priority titles
  • Pulled WhatsApp and Instagram out as secondary channels for talking to the brand's audience
  • Wired up Sanity CMS — the publishing team runs the catalog, banners, and curated lists themselves
  • Built a visual presentation that fits the brand's aesthetic: clean cards, covers front and center
/ OUTCOME

Result — payback in ~1 week after launch

After launch the site immediately started working as a sales channel. The right marketing structure on the homepage — banners, curated lists, deals, new releases — converted the audience's existing interest into real orders. The client recouped the site investment in roughly 1 week after launch — that's the headline result of this case.

«The site turned out genuinely great! @FreelancerOnMondays @di_merk, well done. I'm sure it'll be a strong piece in your portfolio and bring you a lot of new clients.»
